While it’s true that every product we consume, whether plastic credit cards, shampoo bottles, makeup, or even gasoline, affects the planet, the real solution lies not in eliminating joy, but in finding better ways to recycle and reduce waste.

That’s why we chose to partner with TerraCycle, an organization dedicated to creating recycling solutions for items your local curbside recycler won’t accept.

Why TerraCycle?

Most local recycling services can only accept items that are profitable to process. If the cost of collecting and recycling an item outweighs its material value, it ends up in a landfill. TerraCycle takes a different approach.

• Most trash can technically be recycled.

• TerraCycle’s in-house scientists design processes to turn hard-to-recycle trash into useful new products.

• Brands and stakeholders help fund the recycling efforts, so together, we eliminate the idea of waste.

Our Process at Salem Balloons and Flowers 🎈♻️

When you hire us, you’re not just getting beautiful balloon designs; you’re supporting a business that cares deeply about the planet.

Here’s how we make a difference:

• After each event, we pick up all the balloons we’ve installed.

• These balloons are collected in our dedicated TerraCycle Zero Waste Box.

• Once the box is full, we ship it back to TerraCycle, where the balloons are recycled into new, exciting products instead of ending up in a landfill.

We’re proud to say that we pay for this service out of our commitment to sustainability, and not because it’s required.

Despite our best efforts, not every balloon can be retrieved; some remain as part of gifts or in our Set-N-Go installations. That’s why we also use biodegradable latex balloons, which naturally break down over time when exposed to sunlight, oxygen, and moisture. But we don’t stop there. We provide clients with information on how to safely dispose of balloons and even how they can partner with TerraCycle themselves. This ensures that even the balloons we don’t recover won’t harm the environment.
